Abstract :
A simple method is presented for performing soft-decision demodulation and decoding of trellis-coded phase-difference modulation. The results are given for trellis-coded M-ary differential phase-shift keying and M-ary double-differential phase-shift keying, each with soft-decision demodulation and decoding. The performance of these combinations of coding, modulation, demodulation, and decoding is presented for channels which may introduce a phase ramp in the modulated signal
