Abstract :
The behavior of playing online game for the youth in Thailand was questioned for the society. The study of opinion, behavior of students´ playing game and their effects of emotional intelligence that caused by playing game with different severity were concerned. Participants were 340 vocational students and 500 industrial students. Two-third of them played once a day, each time 30 minutes to 2 hours. Half of them played game in a shop or Internet café. The effects of playing game online was at low level in all of the symptoms. The symptom of drowsiness or dizziness was the first order, then insomnia, annoyance, pain in the occipital bone or back. The least symptom was the avoidance of social contact. Media and advertising was mentioned to be the most affected variable of playing game. Relationship in family was inferred to reduce the problem of game addiction. After the experiment of playing game online for 200 hours, it was found that vocational students who played serious violent game, decreased EQ on emotional-control, sympathy, responsibility, decision making and good relationship with others. Those who play less violent game showed no trend of impact on EQ significantly.
