Abstract :
The CtC (Cycle to Cycle) control was implemented in CNC cam grinding for contour error reduction in order to eliminate the contour error and enhance the processing precision of cam grinding. We used the cam profile error measured at the end of the cam grinding in the previous cycle to guide the cam grinding process in this cycle. The cam contour error can be intelligent compensated by designing the CtC feedback controller. By comparing the dimensional error variation and the corresponding adjacent error variation before/after CtC control, a satisfied result was obtained by applying the CtC control in CNC cam grinding.
