Abstract
In this paper, we propose downlink transmission concept with diversity gain using intermediate module repeater (IMR) in satellite digital multimedia broadcasting (S-DMB) system. We do not regard IMRs as simply repeaters but consider as the antennas for space time block code (STBC) as one of transmit diversity methods. First, a transmission scenario for an application of STBC is represented. And then, we apply STBC in S-DMB system including IMR and compare the performance of the proposed IMR structure to conventional structure. Simulation results show that the transmit diversity gain can definitely be achieved compared to conventional downlink transmission concept in S-DMB system.
