Abstract :
In three-phase Brushless DC motor (BLDCM), Single phase winding broken fault (SPWBF) sometimes occurs when it is normally working, which will result in the stop of BLDCM. In this paper, by analysis of magnetic field of BLDCM in the situation of single-phase winding broken fault, a new electric operation mode, namely two-phase four-state is proposed, which is based on the other two phases. In the mode, the BLDCM will be switched from three-phase symmetrical operation mode to the two-phase asymmetric operation mode. This solution can ensure the BLDCM continue to operate in a short time. The feasibility of the proposed method is verified by the MATLAB/Simulink simulations.
