Abstract
In this work, the development of fuzzy-logic controller for a semi-active car suspension system using (1/4) quarter car model is presented. The main aim of the controller is to minimize the body´s displacement velocity. A passive suspension system responds only to the deflection of the strut. While the semi-active system setup can dissipate energy from the system at an appropriate time, in a way or amount that is right for all the variables in the system. The fuzzy-logic system is adapted in such a way as to estimate on-line the unknown dynamics and provides feedback response. Feasibility of utilizing an adjustable magneto-rheological (MR) fluid-damper, instead of passive damper is also discussed.
