Abstract :
A home server usually is an integrated system of communication, broadcast, game, media center, and home automation. The home server should be turned on for twenty four hours a day because it plays a role of network hub, multimedia contents server, and home automation controller. It is necessary to reduce the power consumption of the home server in order to lower the operational cost. This paper proposes service-oriented power management for a multi-service home server by classifying its resources into small blocks according to the service and supplying power only to the resources needed for the service. We also present some scenarios utilizing this power management.
