Abstract
Several receiver structures for trellis-coded QAM (quadrature amplitude-modulated) signals transmitted through dispersive channels are presented. A novel receiver structure, conforming to the CCITT V.32 Recommendation, is proposed and is shown to give excellent performance. The proposed structure consists of a whitening matched filter and a Viterbi decoder with a postcursor processor. Simulation results are presented
