Abstract :
We demonstrate a novel grating characterisation method that can detect lateral shifts of fibre Bragg gratings with a resolution of approximately 10 nm. The method can also be used to compare the period between any transparent media with periodic refractive index modulations, such as phase masks, with an accuracy of ∼0.5ppm.
