Abstract
The paper describes a novel direct work control technique for a three-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM). Based on the direct relationship between the electromagnetic torque generated T, and the network expended per rotor displacement dW/d/spl Phi/, the proposed technique can achieve instantaneous torque control, which is not possible with existing methods. Due to its simplicity, the method can be implemented by low-cost processors.
