Abstract
Due to the complexity of modern industrial drive systems, studying drive performance under voltage dip conditions must realistically be conducted using the actual drive hardware. This paper describes the development of a test system to examine a new approach for studying drive performance under voltage dip conditions using hardware-in-loop connection of the drive controllers to a real-time digital simulation of the plant. Detailed comparative studies are presented to verify real-time models of the component parts of a specific study system against laboratory measurements.
