Abstract
To improve the receive ratio of MAC-level broadcasting and reduce the variability of the receive ratio, we propose a directional receiving method in addition to the broadcast RTS/CTS. In this method, the broadcast sender first transmits RTS to the broadcast receiver that is connected to the largest number of hidden terminals. Each broadcast receiver overhearing the RTS then activates one of its directional antenna arrays to reject the interference transmission from the broadcast transmission. Computer simulations confirm that our proposed method improves both the broadcast receive ratio and the variability characteristics of the broadcast receive ratio.
