Abstract :
In the paper, phase correlation algorithm based on FFT is applied to the vehicle license plate character identification of the intelligent transportation systems. It is a widely used method of image registration, which can not only increase the speed of the license plate character recognition and the generalization ability of system, but also accurately identify some similar characters or obscured characters. There is the rotation-invariant phase correlation algorithm which combines polar coordinate transform with phase correlation. It has very good recognition effect on the rotating vehicle license plate character. The paper provides the analysis and simulation for the algorithm using Matlab, and the superiority of the algorithms is testified. Furthermore, the simulation experimental results show that the algorithm has the advantages of good real-time and high performance in the recognition of license plate character.
