Abstract :
We propose a novel technique to significantly reduce the size of the blocking capacitors required in the output stages of biomedical implantable stimulators. The approach utilizes high-frequency current-switching instead of constant current pulses with a long on-time. As a result, the value of the required blocking capacitor is reduced to the pico-Farad range, representing a reduction of over 10000 times compared to conventional values.
