Abstract
Summary from only given. We have observed transition and pure bend loss in holey fibers and have shown the relative contributions to be dependent on the angular orientation of the bend. A simple model is developed that preserves the exact refractive index profile and so can be used to model the bend loss in any microstructured fiber.
