Abstract :
Support for the computer-aided analysis of dynamic systems has traditionally been provided by numerical tools often written in Fortran. This has often meant that the problem to be analysed must firstly be re-formulated into a matrix representation with which the numerical tools can work. This places a significant load on the user and may be one reason why dynamic systems analysis tools have been slow to find widespread use. The authors describe a prototype, interactive systems definition and analysis package based on block diagrams, called ProDynSA. This package provides a selection of tools for system manipulation and symbolic algebra and can be used as a pre-processing system for numerical analysis packages as well as a powerful analysis system in its own right
