Abstract :
An adaptive threshold acquisition system for direct sequence ultra-wideband (DS-UWB) signal is presented. The proposed adaptive scheme is based on radar constant false alarm rate (CFAR) technique. By deriving formulas for the detection probability and false alarm rate, its performance over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel is analyzed and compared with the existing fixed threshold system. The proposed system maintains a constant false alarm probability, while the performance of the conventional fixed threshold system varies dramatically relative to the background noise. The results are supported by simulations.
