Abstract
Design concept of a compact, novel ultra-wideband (UWB) 2-element antenna array having polarization diversity function is proposed and numerically studied. The array is composed with a monopole antenna and a symmetrical dipole-slot antenna. The array is numerically studied for its return loss, element isolation, radiation patterns and gain. The array is also compared with conventional wideband polarization diversity arrays. It is observed that the element isolation can be improved to higher than 24dB over the whole operating frequency range by integrating different antenna elements together.
