Abstract
Available bandwidth measurements and locating congested link can be useful in network performance management, server selection, and promoting performance of overlay networks. However, it is difficult to obtain this information from router directly because most of ISP would not like sharing this information to the world. In this paper, we propose a new available bandwidth estimation algorithm. Instead of Probe Gap model using the interval expanding to estimate available bandwidth, our algorithm use the ratio of interval compressing to estimate the link idle probability. This algorithm can measure every link´s utilization by end to end active measurement. We use Ns simulation to valid our algorithm.
