Abstract :
The authors introduce a new method for the remote sensing of coastal underwater bathymetry by radar. In contrast to existing methods on the basis of backscatter intensity signatures, the proposed method is based on the along-track interferometric synthetic aperture radar technique, which allows direct measurements of scatterer motions and, thus, of spatially varying surface current fields over bathymetric features. Promising results are shown by the first field experiment
