Abstract :
This paper presents a robust symbol timing synchronization scheme for an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system that is adapted to IEEE 802.16d standard. This scheme is based on the preamble structure defined in IEEE 802.16d. The efficient scheme improves the characteristic of timing metric by exploiting the preamble´s symmetrical structure and the redundancy of CP. Simulation results show that the timing will be more accurate when compared with conventional approaches.
