  • Abstract
We discuss the main verification, validation and integrity (VV&I) issues relating to database systems. We then seek to identify areas in which VV&I solutions for database technology can be beneficial to the expert systems community, and vice versa. In general the areas prove to be disjoint. However, we do identify a role for AI in integrity maintenance for large inscrutable objects, e.g., media objects, and for querying incomplete and uncertain information. We conclude that there is also a role for expert systems to support non-expert database designers and users
