Abstract :
The global system for mobile communications (GSM) networks can provide position information. For ground target tracking, it is difficult to obtain an accurate position estimate when only relying on measurements from GSM networks. Additional information about the target should be incorporated. We propose to use road constraints as pseudomeasurements for target tracking in GSM networks. The results show that an extended Kalman filter (EKF) with the constraints significantly improves the estimation accuracy compared to one without the constraints not only for uniform motion but also for maneuver motion. In addition, a simulation study of fewer than three measurements demonstrates the efficiency and robustness of the proposed approach.
