Abstract
A recursive relation is developed that allows one to obtain a system function in terms of its continued-fraction inversion. The algorithm is based on the well-known Mason´s gain formula for signal-flow graphs, and it encompasses the multidimensional transfer functions. Using the general formula advanced here, Pade approximants of irrational functions can be obtained
