Abstract
A high-frequency quasi-resonant converter using two controlled switches derived from buck-boost converters is presented. A graphical state plane analysis is described for this converter. It reveals several modes of operation and establishes the boundaries between them. Output characteristics are derived from this theoretical study, and experimental results are verified on a 50 W buck-boost converter that can operate in the megahertz range. The switching frequency of this 50 W converter has been fixed at 800 kHz. Experimental results and dynamic behavior are discussed.<>
