Abstract :
On behalf of the Organizing and Technical Program Committees, it is a great honor and pleasure for the General Co-Chairs to welcome participants to the 2005 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory in Adelaide, Australia. This is the first time the Symposium has ventured south of the equator. This year, 798 papers were submitted for review from 47 different countries, with an acceptance rate of 62%. The General Co-Chairs would like to recognize the diligence of the technical program committee and the efforts of all the reviewers in performing their task in a timely and professional manner.
