Abstract :
This paper addresses the problem about designing an optimal quantizer for non-uniformly distributed source over noisy channels. In this paper, firstly, the quantizer encoder is designed to be optimized in terms of an exponentially distributed source. Then, the proposed design makes the quantizer decoder optimal in terms of noisy channel. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the significant performance improvement of the proposed design over quantizers with uniform encoders and channel optimized decoders.
