Abstract
Base station antenna arrays are a promising method for providing significant capacity performance increases for third generation multimedia cellular mobile radio systems. By determining the direction-of-arrival (DOA) of a desired user the base station can exploit the spatial dimension known as space division multiple access. Many eigendecomposition methods are popular for their high-resolution properties in DOA estimation but are also known to be of high computational demand. This paper presents a space-time receiver structure using an alternative iterative DOA method based on conventional beamforming with reduced computational complexity
