Abstract
A powerful tool for simulating an electrical network requires recognition of the elements and the topology of the network. The implementation of this tool can be in the form of a software package to be used as the input to a simulation tool such as SPICE. This work shows a way to capture a schematic diagram in a graphical mode, and to be able to identify each one of the elements in the network as well as to create a netlist file to be used as the input file containing a listing of the element types, values, and nodes, according to the format required by SPICE for an input file
