Abstract :
Typical fiber-based backbone networks support the transport of a tremendous amount of bandwidth. Free space optical technology is quickly deployed and is based on standardized protocols, compatible with fiber-based networks. Modern wireless technology and protocols allow for multiservices, end-user flexibility and for mobility in the access regime. In this paper we describe the seamless protocol integration of these three technologies and their protocols.
