Abstract
A ultra-wide-band (UWB) filter with passband from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz based on stepped impedance resonator (SIR) and interdigital coupled-line techniques is presented in this letter for use in wireless communication applications. The characteristics of stepped impedance resonator are studied and the relationship between SIR and Multi-mode resonator (MMR) is discussed. The skirts effect of the UWB filter is improved by using parallel open ended stepped impedance resonator. Excellent agreement between the predicted and measured results has been obtained and demonstrated.
