Abstract :
Reducing mutual coupling between antennas of electrical equipment and system is one of the main topics in electronics design. In this paper, a standard U-shaped corrugated surface was designed and measured for improving the isolation between two antennas. The design is based on numerical method-finite element method (FEM). Detailed optimization on corrugated surface is presented. Both numerical and experimental results show that a cylindrical device with corrugated surface would have higher isolation by about 8dB than without it. This proposed corrugated surface can reduce the coupling between antennas by stopping the wave propagating on the metal surface, and it is easy to be fabricated, which is very suitable for various improving isolation applications.
