Abstract
The lightning radiation field propagating above lossy ground, which may be modified by the propagation effect of soil resistivity, is investigated. Based on the expression of the radiation field from dipole, the effect of soil resistivity on lightning radiation field is analyzed in both time and frequency domain. It is indicated that, compared with the case of perfect ground conductor, the resistivity of soil causes decrease in the magnitude and increase in the rise time of lightning radiation magnetic field. Changes in the peak value and derivative of the corresponding inverted lightning current are also investigated.
