  • Abstract
Ultrawideband (UWB) radar´s small spatial resolution and materials penetrating capabilities have found many practical applications. The American FCC and EU Council have published UWB device regulations which will encourage commercial applications development. Four UWB radar examples show the possibilities for future development trends, capabilities and applications. Future architectural improvements will include multi element antenna arrays, improved signal integration and higher order return signal spectrum analysis. Applying bistatic and tomographic approaches might provide solutions to small object imaging and detection.
