Abstract :
Since trunk piece has complex structure, large volume as well as many mould cavities and holes, its molding process should be arranged in order to achieve the desired result. Mechanical part is designed according to its functional requirement and structural properties, yet the processing technology is not taken into consideration so that the 3D part model is merely the part´s final shape and functional structure. Traditionally, before the manufacture, a blank drawing of mechanical part should be finished according to its assembly drawing. Things have changed with the wide application of three dimension design technology, and people have been studying the quick generation of blank model from part model by computer technology. On the basis of achievements in the field of feature recognition and generation as well as manufacture feature converted from design feature, this thesis presents an integrated designing process and systematic structure for blank model of molded piece. This thesis also suggests that it is necessary to use the knowledge and rules of manufacture technology to reason the reconstruction of casted machining surface to improve automation.
