Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a zero-current/voltage-switching (ZCVS) pulse-width-modulated (PWM) boost converter which is accomplished by adding a second switch in parallel with the resonant capacitor of the zero-current-switching (ZCS) quasi-resonant boost converter. It is shown that the primary switch of the new converter possesses zero-current-switching while the other one possesses zero-voltage-switching. Since the new converter contains two switches, by properly controlling both switches, the pulse-width-modulation can be achieved. By using the state plane diagram, the steady state analysis is conducted and a complete set of the characteristic curves are generated. To verify the theoretical work, computer simulations are also provided
