Abstract :
Summary form only given. We demonstrate, for the first time, an efficient high-order mode selection in a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser by using various intracavity phase elements. The high gain that exists in a Q-switched laser and the transient nature of Q-switched operation, generate complex mode dynamics, that may pose considerable difficulty in obtaining single mode operation along the whole pulse duration.
