Abstract
This paper utilizes the effect of different structural parameters on Bandwidth and Resonant frequency of Novel planar metamaterial (MTM) structure. This proposed MTM structure shows lower resonant frequency than already designed UCPBG structure. Reflection phase characteristics of unit cell of this MTM structure are simulated using the Ansoft´s HFSS software to observe resonance frequencies and also effect of different structure parameters on band width of planar MTM are studied. As we decreases the size of patches the resonant frequency as well as band width increases. As substrate thickness increases which leads to increase in bandwidth. For 0.08 λ7GHz substrate thickness the band width is nearly 1GHz. This planar MTM structure covers a wide band gap of 3.5 GHz which is useful for applications working in X-band of frequency range.
