Abstract
This paper reports the machine vision contributions to a skid-resistance research project. A low-cost vision system provided experimental laboratory estimates of the actual contact area between the uneven surfaces of pavement briquettes and rubber samples. Data were obtained for various load pressures and surface smoothness as simulations of actual time-pavement friction conditions on pavement surfaces
