Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have demonstrated in-plane butt-coupling between a cavity and a guide so as to form a "photon gun". We have also demonstrated transmission through a series of coupled cavities. We have identified the specific cavity modes involved in the coupling mechanism in both structures. This study provides design rules for the realization of compact in-line filtering at a desired wavelength.
