Abstract :
Summary from only given. We conclude that the design of a high-quality waeguide in a photonic crystal requires careful considerations of the end effects, as these may lead to significant Fabry-Perot like interference fringes. This problem may be alleviated by introducing tapers at the ends of the guide.
