  • Abstract
A meter placement method that ensures network observability in case of a loss of a single measurement or a branch outage, has been presented earlier (see F.H. Magnago et al., IEEE Trans. Power Syst., vol15, 2000). This paper extends the results of the previous work and develops an improved method which can place meters in a way that will maintain full observability even when a group of measurements or branches are eliminated from the system. The method is described in detail along with a numerical example which illustrates its application.
