Abstract :
A new algorithm for the automatic generation of finite element meshes is presented, the method is based on an extension of the grid-based algorithm. It can be separated into following separate processes: the interior triangles are equilateral isosceles right; then a new algorithm for automatic refinement is presented to deal with meshes near to the boundary. Compared with other methods, the new method can generate meshes with reasonable quality automatically, and is easy to produce FEM code. Also it achieves good quality of mesh. The method is proved to be effective by application to calculate the RCS of sphere and rectangular cylinder.
