Abstract :
The economies of waste-fuel burning have changed dramatically in the last decade. Shrinking volumes of waste and increased permitting costs have caused unanticipated shifts in cement kiln waste fuels recycling efforts-as the US cement industry strives to maintain overall economic viability. USEPA waste reduction strategies and inconsistent enforcement actions can cause cement manufacturers to reexamine their continued involvement with waste fuel. This paper addresses some industry waste-fuel burning economic trends and market dynamics from the perspective of hazardous waste fuel burning operations at two Medusa Corporation plants
