Abstract
This paper introduces a new scheme of Piecewise Linear Frequency Modulation (PLFM) for generating good code sets. Each code in the set has a good autocorrelation with small peak sidelobes, and any code pair in the set has small cross-correlation. For a given time-bandwidth product, the number of codes per code set is varied and the Multiple Code Interference (MCI) is tabulated. The new class of code sets is shown to have good ambiguity functions with a good ability to tolerate a realistic range of Doppler shifts. At the receiver, an extended matched filter is used, which introduces improvement in Doppler Detection at the cost of a slightly higher MCI and lower SNR.
