Abstract :
Summary from only given. We have presented a theoretical analysis of THz-generation via optical rectification in periodically poled materials and compared the results with experimental data. The comparison includes emission in a direction perpendicular to the direction of beam propagation, emission in forward and backward direction and Cherenkov radiation. Starting from the nonlinear polarization induced in the nonlinear material and applying a simple radiating antenna model we have obtained excellent agreement both in the time and frequency domain.
