Abstract
The US Department of Energy´s Wind Energy program is working across the country to build on America´s investment in wind over the last 30 years to capture the economic opportunities from wind development. Called Wind Powering America, this effort is aimed at addressing barriers to wind development at the national, state and local levels. The key focus is on supporting wind development as a means of bringing economic benefits to America from new, home grown jobs created to manufacture, install and maintain wind turbines, to tax revenues for towns and municipalities, to annual payments to rural landowners who lease their land for development.
