Abstract :
With the advent of three-dimensional modeling, more effort has gone into iterative methods for solving such problems. Two special cases of device simulation, continuation and coupled circuit equations, give rise to bordered systems of linear equations for which block sparse factorization techniques have been exploited but the obvious iterative variants are not efficient; moreover, the block factorization or elimination techniques provide mediocre performance for three-dimensional device equations with bordering equations. In these instances, it makes sense to reconsider the iterative approaches appropriate for bordered systems, starting with IV continuation
