Abstract
In this paper, we introduce dynamic spectrum access/cognitive radio activities in Korea. In the past, spectrum management in Korea was command and control with exclusive usage rights and small portions of spectrum commons bands. With the development of the radio technologies, Korea government, KCC(Korea Communications Commission), has been adopting new spectrum policies based on dynamic spectrum access technology such as LBT(Listen Before Talk) for RFID, UWB-DAA, and FACS(Flexible Access Common Spectrum) etc. KCC is also considering spectrum sharing in the TV white space after DTV transition. New radio technique such as cognitive radio will be applied to create new secondary services in the TV white space. Thus KCC is trying to open the radio spectrum in an efficient way and adopt new radio technology.
