  • Abstract
    This paper introduces the integrated intelligent dynamic control architecture including arterial traffic data metering system, traffic information releasing system and speed pre-control system to improve the efficiency and safety level of the arterial. This study investigates the effects of speed control on traffic flow processes and develops control strategy to maximize the efficiency of urban arterial system, especially under the congestion conditions. Moreover, the traffic congestion predict method based on cloud model has been put forward systemly which will make the pre-control strategy to be realized. The feasibility and effectiveness of that new method which is presented in this paper are demonstrated by an example.
